Dental Insurance and Medical Insurance

About half of our patients at MoreSMILES Dental have dental insurance.  Our team is expert at researching individual policies to help our patients understand what to expect from their insurance carrier and to be prepared for their own out-of-pocket expense.  It is our policy to always INFORM before we PERFORM to make sure there is clear, mutual understanding and expectation.

While in-network benefits are available in our office for some dental plans, there are other procedures that may not be covered by insurance at all, or may have limited benefits relative to the level of experience and resources we commit to our patients.  But we are always prepared to discuss options to help our patients comfortably afford the level of care we provide, and we work with your insurance company to maximize your benefits and accept assignment of benefits on your behalf.

Medical insurance benefits may also apply to some procedures performed in our dental office, such as Oral Sleep Appliance therapy for sleep breathing disorders (sleep apnea and snoring).  We are also a Medicare approved provider of these devices.  While sleep apnea is a medical diagnosis, and we work with sleep physicians, the oral appliances should be covered if your medical insurance includes coverage for Durable Medical Equipment (DME's).

Our Insurance Coordinator, Jessica, and our Sleep Coordinator, Lori, will be happy to answer your questions and help you determine any benefits that may apply for treatment in our office.

USA Today Reports Teeth at the Top of the List for Dating

What's at the top of the list of things single people look for in a potential date?  We're not surprised to see that teeth is right up there at the top!  So look at yourself in the mirror, smile and be honest.  Are your teeth holding you back socially or at work?  Are they dragging on your self esteem?  Are you having trouble eating the foods you enjoy?

Make good oral health a priority so you can live life to its fullest.

NFL Legends "Bowl Over" Dr. Moreau at NFLPA Bowling Fundraiser

One of the highlights of not only the Superbowl weekend, but perhaps his entire life, was Dr. Moreau's chance meeting with his high school football hero, Jerry Kramer.  Kramer had an 11-year career with the Green Bay Packers from '58-'68.  Dr. Moreau always admired Jerry's style and technique and studied his films as a Jesuit High School football player to emulate his moves.  Kramer and Carl Eller were two of many NFL legends participating in a fundraiser at a Kenner bowling alley prior to the Superbowl in New Orleans.
Dr. Jim Moreau and Jerry Kramer enjoyed
revisiting some of Kramer's  football
highlights, including why his Superbowl
II ring actually has 3 stones.

1964 1st round draft pick of the Minnesota
Vikings and one of the four players in a
unit known as the "Purple People Eaters."

Superbowl Event in New Orleans Raises Awareness of Sleep Apnea

Our team enjoyed a great experience this past weekend screening retired NFL players for sleep apnea in our New Orleans dental sleep office.  We were invited to participate with Pro Player Health Alliance (PPHA) and the NFLPA in conjunction with The Living Heart Foundation under the direction of Dr. Archie Roberts, retired cardiologist and NFL quarterback.  We were joined by Dr. Stuart Busby, director of Ochsner's Sleep Center at Ochsner Baptist in New Orleans, Dr. Earl Bowie, director of Ochsner's Sleep Center on the Northshore, and Sleep Medicine Nurse Practitioner Victoria Brandt.

Players were referred by the Louisiana NFLPA chapter and from the Player Care medical screenings conducted by The Living Heart Foundation during Superbowl week at the Convention Center.  The goal was to raise awareness of the high incidence of sleep apnea in athletes and to hopefully intervene in potentially life-saving ways by beginning the steps to proper diagnosis and treatment.
