Sugar Bowl Tickets Available

Woo-hoo! My beloved Alabama Crimson Tide is returning to the Sugar Bowl in New Orleans! Please forgive while I divert from dental-related topics for a moment to revel in the's been a long time coming.

I know that for many people in these South Louisiana parts, mine is not a popular position, given all the hostilities surrounding Nick Saban's move to the University of Alabama as head coach two years ago. But, come on, guys...I love my Tide, and Saban's done what many before him could not even pretend to do. I went to Alabama in the Bear Bryant days, and let me tell you, college just doesn't get any better than that. And with my daughter there now, well, let's just say it's been a fun season for us.

Which brings me to the real point of this my exuberance, I went online just prior to the bowl match-ups show and purchased some Sugar Bowl tickets, buying extras for my daughter and her friends. Since they were unable to get student tickets on-campus for the SEC Championship game, I assumed there was a solid chance they would get shut out again. As it turns out, they were able to get their tickets at school, so now I have a few extras that we won't be using. If anyone is looking for Sugar Bowl tickets, or if you know of someone who is, just email me at

Roll Tide!

Snow in Louisiana - I've Seen It All Now

What a surprise. Even when we listened to news reports of snow in parishes to the west of us as we ate breakfast yesterday morning, we still never imagined what was in store for us!
I went out the back door to drive the kids to school and the light rain was beginning to turn to heavy snow before my very eyes. " might want to come see this."
After the initial shock of having to make some last minute schedule changes, what a glorious, magical day it was. One of our neighbors were playing Christmas music on their outdoor speakers just across the bayou from us. It seemed that the whole neighborhood was standing still and just taking in the breath-taking scenery with that beautiful music in the background of a holiday greeting card scene.
Even our two Maltese dogs relished in their new-found frolic, once they got accustomed to feeling the powder on their paws. Boston went bounding out the door as usual, and when his front paws his the snow, his back paws went straight up in the air as he did a handstand to avoid putting all fours down in the mysterious, cold white stuff. The teenagers had no trouble adapting. It didn't take long to pull the ski gear out of the attic and pilfer through to find "what fits."
Dentally speaking, we lost some power about halfway through the day and ended up rescheduling the afternoon patients. A perfect excuse for pouring a hot mug of coffee and walking through the snow-covered forest along the bayou in the back yard.
